Hello from Hollow Stone Towers, where we’re all in the garden, trying to summon the water that lives in the clouds to visit us.

There’s been no rain in my particular part of the world for so long that when I go and walk the hell hound, if I listen really closely, I can hear the grass screaming. It’s quite unnerving. The Met Office keep promising that it’s going to rain soon, but always tomorrow. Manana, manana, as they say. But I’m sure all this endless heat, the drought, and the wildfires aren’t some signal of a wider ecological collapse or anything. Should be fine.

Anyway.

In my last mail, I mentioned that I was going away on holiday, or was, in fact, on holiday at the point it landed in your inbox. And a very lovely time it was, too. But it afforded me a nice little break to relax, chill, spend some time with my family and… completely rethink my entire author career.

Over the course of the week, I spent a good deal of time each day scribbling copious notes about what I’ve learned from my decade of publishing so far, and I’ve come to some fairly meaty conclusions, both about the state of publishing in 2026 and also my own approach to it. I won’t bore you with it all now (though I promise I will later), but there are two headlines I want to call attention to for now:

• I’ve decided to move away from Kindle Unlimited as soon as I can. That’s still at least a few months away, given my exclusivity obligations there, but I wanted to call it out to say that if you’re a KU reader and the Blood Trilogy or the new Darkness Rises Books have been sitting in your TBR pile, you might want to get to them sooner rather than later.

• I have a brand new website! It’s at https://hollowstone.press, so if you want to check out any of the books or series, or my blog, or my upcoming events, that’s the place to go from now on.

On the subject of boring you all with my thoughts, however, I’m likely not going to do that as part of this newsletter, but I do also have a blog, which is separately available to subscribe to by email, RSS, or with an Atmospheric account. Why not go and follow it now?
