The turning of the tide

Eventide - the complete fifth season of The Sunset Chronicles, is out now.

The turning of the tide

Hello from Hollow Stone Towers,

Today sees the release of Eventide, the fifth full season of The Sunset Chronicles in Omnibus form. This brings the omnibus editions bang up to date with the episode schedules, ahead of the release of the first of Season Six's episodes, but more on that anon.

So, what can you expect from Eventide?

After a decade in the dark, the ISS Minos is finally within reach of Earth. The whole world is about to learn what it found beneath the ice.

Aboard the Minos, Wyn is bringing humanity's last hope home, and perhaps its executioner. The ship sent to rescue her crew proved a slaughterhouse; her own vessel is now shared with the creatures from the ice, and the cargo in her hold could be humanity's salvation, or extinction. The closer Earth comes, the harder the question grows: bring the Minos home, or make certain it never does.

In rural Nigeria, Wyn's father has heard nothing from his daughter in years, and the toll of that silence grows with each passing day. As Sunset's mercenaries tighten their grip on his town and old friends begin to turn up dead, Oban starts asking the kind of questions the Corporation kills people for, and learns just how far they will go to keep the Minos's secret.

Across an America remade in Christopher Sun's image, Jules is the most wanted woman alive; the reluctant face of a revolution that has all but died. Hunted from one safe house to the next, she is chasing a thread that could bring the whole rotten empire down, if it doesn't get her killed first.

Far above it all, Judd is drawn toward a moon base very different from the one he once called home, and a gathering of minds unlike anything he has known. Something is stirring among the world's telepaths, something vast and patient and quiet, and Judd may be the only one who senses what it's about to become.

Five seasons of conspiracy, plague, and monsters have built to this. As the Minos falls toward Earth and every hidden player makes their move, secrets long buried are finally coming to light, and the truth may be more lethal than the darkness.

Well, that certainly sounds exciting, doesn't it? Check out Eventide in eBook or paperback over at the Hollow Stone Press website.

Now, if you've already read these episodes, and are eagerly waiting for Season Six, well the good news is that you don't have much longer to wait! I can confirm that Omen of the Deep, the first episode of Season Six, will launch Thursday October 15th, with a new episode every two weeks until mid December, and the Omnibus edition landing January 7th. Then Season Seven will kick off with its first episode, Last Light, on January 21st, before wrapping up with the final omnibus edition on April 1st, and that's no April fool.

And, guess what? The first of those episodes, Omen of the Deep, is ready to pre-order, right now.

As for what comes after Sunset? Well, that's a bit of an open question, and one that I'll come back to in the next few weeks. But in the meantime, I just want to thank everyone who's been on the Sunset train with me these past... checks notes.... FIVE YEARS. Your patience is going to be rewarded with a barnstorming, explosive conclusion, I promise.

Until next time, happy reading.

Paul
